Welcome to Aurora Sky Station – the best place on earth to experience northern lights.
Abisko has long been renowned for its Midnight Sun and Northern Lights. STF Abisko Turiststation worked with travel guides as early as the 1960s-70s, but it wasn’t until 2000 that “Northern Lights in Abisko” was packaged for the first time.
Yes, it is dark and cold up on Mount Nuolja, but conditions there are perfect to watch the Northern Lights dancing in the sky. Just make sure you dress appropriately to get the best out of your evening at Aurora Sky Station.
Like Swedes you’ll probably love Northern Swedish Cuisine. Not an eye is dry when they savour well-cooked reindeer steak served with crispy trimmings from Sápmi, cooked to perfection.
Mount Nuolja is a mythical, enticing place. Come and experience winter landscapes in our mountains by taking the chairlift up – to 900 meters above sea level. Go skiing or just enjoy the mountain scenery – everyone is welcome!
Enjoy our mountain scenery from above by taking the chairlift up onto Mount Nuolja. A 20-minute ride brings you up to a height of 900 meters above sea level.
Midnight Sun Dinner
Combine some of the best experiences Abisko can offer during the summer – chairlift, hiking, magical midnight sun and, to top it all, an exquisite three-course dinner. Welcome to STF Aurora Sky Station – one of the world’s best places to experience a world of light!
Midnight Sun Hike
Here in Abisko, 250 km north of the Arctic Circle, the sun doesn’t go down below the horizon even at midnight from the beginning of June. Then, the polar day is filled with daylight around the clock. So we can go “night hiking” in alpine terrain lit up by the red-yellow, polar light that envelops our surroundings – from the sky above us to the ground beneath our feet.
Night Visit Autumn
Share a common dream – experience autumn and the magical Northern Lights, surrounded by a forest of silvery mountain birches with leaves that have changed into glorious autumnal colors. Take the chairlift to far above the tree line on Mount Nuolja.
Experience mountain scenery from above by taking the chairlift up towards the top of Mount Nuolja. In 20 minutes, you are taken up to 900 meters above sea level to a spot from which views of the area is breathtaking.
